As Wuthering Waves continues to roll out celebratory events for its first anniversary, it seems that version 2.4 could be the real highlight. While version 2.3 included various anniversary bonuses, leaks and early reveals suggest that Wuthering Waves 2.4 will bring the most exciting content yet.
New Characters in Wuthering Waves 2.4
Two new 5-star characters will debut in this version:
- Cartethyia – A Sentinel from Rinascita, she is an Aero-element sword user with a unique dual-form mechanic, allowing players to explore the open world using both her forms without worrying about cooldowns.
- Lupa – A Fusion-element claymore user from the new Roman-inspired nation of Septimont. She brings a fierce new playstyle along with Echoes reminiscent of Roman soldiers and gladiators.
Banner Lineups
According to leaks, the character banners will be:
- First Half: Cartethyia, Baizhi, Lumi, Aalto
- Second Half: Lupa, Chixia, Sanhua, Youhu
There’s currently no confirmation regarding reruns for this version.
Two New Echo Sets
To accompany Cartethyia and Lupa, version 2.4 will introduce two brand-new Echo sets with tailored buffs:
Cartethyia’s Echo Set:
- 2-Piece Bonus: +10% Aero DMG
- 5-Piece Bonus: After applying Aero Erosion to enemies, gain +10% Crit Rate and +30% Aero DMG for 10s
Lupa’s Echo Set:
- 2-Piece Bonus: +10% Fusion DMG
- 5-Piece Bonus: After using a Resonance Skill (R), gain +15% Fusion DMG and +20% Resonance Skill DMG for 30s
These sets suggest both characters will scale heavily with their respective elemental damage—Cartethyia possibly even scaling from HP, according to leakers.
New Skins for Carlotta and Changli
Also coming in 2.4 are two new character skins for Carlotta and Changli. These skins are expected to be 4-star rarity, much like Sanhua’s previous cosmetic release. Their estimated price is around 1680 Lunite, though a 300 Lunite discount voucher can be earned in version 2.3 and used when purchasing these new skins.
Additionally, both gliders and wings will reportedly get new looks. It’s not yet confirmed if these will be free or purchasable, but the cosmetics appear to be getting a major upgrade this patch.
New Card Battle Mode
One of the biggest surprises is the introduction of a card game mode in version 2.4.
Early Details:
- Players draw 4 cards at the start of their turn and begin with 2 Cost points.
- Cards have 3 stats: Attack, Cost, and HP.
- There are 2 rows of cards: your board and your opponent’s. The center row is referred to as the “Illusion Zone.”
- You can discard cards to gain extra Cost.
- Players also have active and passive skills, represented by circular icons on the right side of the interface.
While we don’t have full rules yet, this mode appears to be a strategic addition similar to Genius Invokation TCG from Genshin Impact. More info is expected as the release date approaches.
Conclusion
From new characters with unique mechanics and Echo sets to stylish cosmetics and even a brand-new card game mode, Wuthering Waves 2.4 is shaping up to be the true centerpiece of the anniversary celebration.
